Is it possible to remove (without damage) the focussing hood from a Tech III ? I prefer a dark cloth and I find the hood difficult to use when using a loupe to focus.

Yes it is on a slip hinge. Just slide to one side and lift up. You do this after pulling the top end out of its snap lock.
