Short center column for Gitzo 1227 MKII?

The standard center column is about 30cm long. Was there ever a shorter one for the 1227 or 1228? Extra points for the part number, especially if it's still available. I'm aware of the Markins TB-20 tripod base as an alternative, but an specifically looking for a shorter center column.

I sent this question to Gitzo a few days ago but have received no response.
