Pin hole in holder hinge tape

I have a number of holders where the hinge tape is wearing out. Some are worn enough that I will replace them out right. Some are very small single pinholes. The book binding tape is not opaque. If the holder has just a small pinhole should I replace it with this book binding tape? Or can I safely leave it alone till I can find an opaque tape. OR does it even matter?
    Regards

Usually it's the shape of the flap itself that combines with the shape of that end of the holder to maintain the light seal. The hinge tape just serves as... a hinge.

If you're unsure of the integrity of a holder, you can test it using a piece of an inexpensive printing paper cut to size.
