    Posterizing effect

    I get some prints that have a "posterizing" effect in the sky.Why is that and how do I eliminate it?

    Work in 16bit if you don't already.
    Burn the sky less in post production / use less aggressive curves.
    Scan the highlights and shadows separately to optimize the dynamic range of the digital file.

    These are the things I'd look for first. But an example image and explanation of your workflow and settings would be very helpful.

    Film, digital, silver, inkjet???? Examples are needed...
