Eccentric wheels? That would probably work on a motor base with a low RPM drive, but on mine the drive to drum ratio is about 10:1, so eccentric wheels would probably result in severe over agitation.

Not sure I follow the rest. Jobo processors, motorized print rollers, a lot of these devices have an option to reverse direction. What failures are you referring to?
