Darin, are these straight photographs or did you use an alternative process to get the stippled/dark patterns? I'm fascinated by the first and third and cannot, for the life of me, figure out what I'm seeing. What did you do, man?!

They are semi-straight photos. I'm not much of a photoshop person, skill-wise or philosophically. I'd did two or three simple transformations...
