    Re: Dean Jones RIP

I am quite shocked, It really looked like he had that cancer beat.

We will certainly miss him, I wish I had his energy, My other Australian friends are like that, Where do Australians get their energy?

I would have liked to have one of his 4x5 cameras for my collection, I have one of his "Obsession 617" 120 film Pano cameras which I am most proud to have and use.

This is just plain sad news, I wonder if he had sons or daughters and other family, when you are blessed like Dean I am sure he had a bunch of friends not only locally but all over the place.

There was a lot of great camera technology shared amongst us with Dean.

I hope his dogs that he was so proud of and loved have a good new home and family.

Dean helped me learn the art of cutting custom rangefinder cams, not too many people really know the art of cutting rangefinder cams out there.

I remember Dean was not all that enthused about instant film like Polaroid, Fuji but I think he would have liked that New Type 55 B&W film that is nearing production next year, Dean really appreciated great B&W film.

Dean pretty much placed Digital photography in its proper place, Use it for websites and ebay! Publishing instructionals and informationals.

I have been trying to raise enough funds to go to Australia again, I went in 1999, would have been really great to head down to Melbourn from Sydney where my Railroad engineer friend lives to visit him, I kept telling Dean I would come down to see him some day.

    Certainly sad news........

    Regards, Steve I "AKW"
