This makes me wonder what the point of the photo is then. Obviously it is not about her. This in turn means it must be something that the photographer wants to express, but I cannot detect it. It is a "moody" photo of a woman with a borrowed violin sitting in a forest. This has an element of bizarre entertainment I enjoy, but is probably not intended.

I know. It doesn't have naked body parts, its not street snapshot and it doesn't have straight on full face. It does get confusing in modern world.

However it also took reaction out of quite a few people. Commanded them to look. Got them to think Got them to look again. Violin for non players have certain associations, so is forest , so is general female form So are diagonals in the picture, general moodiness of lightning.
If it weren't so cold , we probably ended up shooting it as originally intended - in wavy dress and then it would be completely off balance.

So, usual Zen question:
If leaf falls in the forest and there is no one to hear it - does it make sound? What if there someone to actually listen to those?

Daughter with Olivia, one of our White Leghorn chickens. 4x5 FP4+ in pyrocat hd. Speed graphic + Aero Ektar. I think a small bit of luck was involved in getting the razor thin focus right on with kids who move around constantly.

Look at her eyes and how did you manage to do that? I can never do that with my Graflex at f/2.5-3.5. It's lovely!

Jp - this is such an awesome picture that you pulled off with a kid and a chicken! I hope those who look at it in the exhibit can truly appreciate how amazing it really is to pull this off with a large format camera.
