The rotating back means you get the full 4" dimension no problem. Squaring off the brass rotation-plate base required 2 small cuts to the brass, but that's all.

I'm confused by what you mean here, you said you built your mod without the rotating back?

late followup I know. What I meant was that since the back rotates, it already allows at least a 4" dimension in both directions (since the original 3x4 could be either horizontal or vertical.). I went with vertical for various reasons, but mostly since it allowed the largest film area to be exposed.
