    Ilford HP5+ 4x5 sheet E.I. 400
    Rodinal 1:40 for 11 minutes at 20c

Lighting Setup - modified Clamshell setup with Elinchrom 54 Octa up top and to the right, softbox on the ground hooked into a Ranger RX.

What a happy accident in development. I was finishing up a portrait session and after 150 shots of digital on my 5dmarkII, I pulled out my large format and made my wife sit for just a few more shots. It was 11 oclock at night and we were both getting tired.

When I mixed up the Rodinal, I diluted 20cc in 780ml of H20 instead of 980ml because of a veritable brain fart as I was intending a 1 liter solution of 1:50. I didn't have enough developer as I need a liter for my paterson 3 tank and hence the artifact on the top side of the sheet. I ran a development time of 11 minutes based on the massivedev charts for 1:50 so I over developed the film. Thank goodness for the latitude and allowance of black and white film.

Scanned on EpsonV750 on the stock film holder in RGB and converted to monochrome after isolating the green channel. Other than that, no other work in Photoshop. I'm tempted to get out my betterscanning holder and wet scan to see how much I can pull out of the film.

Deval, that is a very flattering image. Do pull out the betterscanning holder and see what you can pull out. I'd love to see the results!
