Indeed, I'm delighted to see a thread on hydroelectric generators and equipment! This has been one of my principal topics of work for the past decade or more. Here's a view of some more horizontal generators, at the Erie Canal powerhouse in Brewerton, NY, built in about 1918.

Nice to see that there are still people who appreciate this old machinery. I spent 25 years working in a coal fired power plant in central NY, when I get back to CNY I will share some of my photos from my days in the power plant.
