    Chamonix 24x32 (!)

Stumbled across this while web surfing. I don't know anything more about it but I'd like to tip my hat to Yu Xiang. Could he be the elusive Chamonix Camera Mountaineer/Founder?

Some of the other photos in the set are a good insight into their operation. Thanks for posting.

    Re: Chamonix 24x32 (!)

Something's fishy..... It's obviously a cool camera, but the aspect ratio sure doesn't look like 24x32 to me. That would look like 3x4. This looks quite a bit more panoramic in shape, if not size. My first thought was that it's a 12x20, but that's not right as it's clearly larger and the shape doesn't quite look like that, either.

Notice, too, the grid on the ground glass. Judging from Mr. Yu's (did I get that right?) hand, they could be 1-inch squares and if so, the short dimension looks more like 16". The long side could be 28", but my eyes grow blurry and I am tired.

Whether it's 24x32 or 16x28 or something altogether different, it is quite impressive. But just curious since I was surprised by the shape...

    Link won't work for me...

I know Chamonix makes a 20x24 camera so I'm sure they do custom work too...

Kind of begs the question, "Hey, is that a Haas-elblad?"
    *sorry!*
