    Advice on building bellows socket

    Hello,

I've ordered bellows from UK Custom Bellows. One side will attach to a Sinar, but for my camera I need to build my own way to attached.

Here's an image of what I'm thinking of trying to do. My CAD skills aren't too good.

If anyone has any advice that would be helpful. I have had trouble finding information on the Web on this kind of thing. I will add some kind of latch at the top. At the bottom I'll have a lip that will hold the bellows plate inside. I assume it will be study and also keep light out.

    Thanks!

2mm seems kinda thin for a frame. Is this a portable or studio camera?

My 11x14 Studio camera has 5/16" wood frames and the upper frame edge slides into a pocket and is fastened by 2 rotating flat metal latches on the bottom.

I know one member is making custom bellows for his own project from 8x10 Cambo metal frames I sold him. The bellows can be fixed by screws in those frames. Some Horseman/Sinar 4x5 frames also use fastening screws.

Thanks, it is more of a studio camera. I was already thinking of 3mm think, but that's good advice. It might be easier and more secure to have screws to hold it.

I've used .080 aluminum for my field camera. Plenty strong. Pm me if you need the frame made.

Thanks for the offer. I have a friend who works in a machine shop so I'm passing along building to him. Glad to hear that .080 works for you. I might go with that or a size thicker.
