    Positioning an ND grad filter

Hoping someone can help me with this. On MF and 35mm I have no bother positioning a hard grad to balance the sky from foreground. With LF it's got me beat. I can't see the filter edge at all on the viewing glass let alone see how far down it is to line it up with the horizon. I'm shooting with a grandagon 75mm 4.5 and a 210 5.6 rodenstock. I'm using HiTech filters in a z-pro holder. grads are hard edge.

I've tried using a piece of black card or my phone edge in front of the lens as a guide but its nowhere near good enough and I've had a few images with parts of the foreground too dark.

Does anyone have any tips on how to align a filter correctly?

search the forum next time too:http://www.largeformatphotography.in...ng+grad+filter
I use the black card trick every time and I've never had the line not be where it's supposed to be. You ARE stopping the lens down to shooting aperture while setting the height, RIGHT?

I use a Post-It note. Put it on the filter at the graduation, align the filter with the horizon, and peel it off.
