Hi, Newbie here looking for a workshop

    Hi,

I am Abhishek currently living in Minneapolis,Minnesota. Like many others , I started with digital SLRs and slowly moved into films.. Currently shooting with a Hasselblad 500 cm and a 6x6 Pinhole camera.
However, always wanted to go large format just for the sheer joy to realize what it means to go back to the roots of photography.

As a result, looking for a workshop or a teacher who can teach me with hands on large format especially landscapes...

    Regards,
    Abhishek

The Announcements forum has some listings for later in the year. You might also check local camera clubs, universities or Meetups to find them. Or you could find some photographers local to you on this forum itself, and ask if they might be willing to help out.

    Cheers,
    Kumar

Hi Abhishek. My advice would be to make another thread in introductions with the title "New to LF-Looking for help in Minneapolis". Not many workshops available (you can find them in "Announcements"), but lots of friendly people who would be willing to spend a few hours with you for a coffee or a beer. You can learn it on the internet (I did) but that will be much slower and less fun than leaning in person.

    Good light,

    Tim

I highly recommend Michael Gordon's workshops, and he has an intro to LF workshop. http://www.michael-gordon.com/page/workshops/

Michael is an outstanding photographer, a fantastic instructor and a really fun guy to hang out with. I could not imagine a better intro experience.

    Hi JP,

Thanks a lot for replying. Yeah, I am definitely ready to travel around the country. However, I work as a full time IT analyst and hence can take a maximum of 5 days of leave. Also, I donot know driving and hence cannot travel on my own but can carpool .

These are the only constraints I have.

Other than that I would love to join an experienced photographer and learn the tricks in hand ... Its a dream come true for me if I can join a workshop..
