Thread: Still-Life Images, 2014

I have Tanol too, and tried both rotary and hand development. I do not see a problem to use it in rotary.
And about the lens I have an Emil Busch 12cm f2,7, but it does not covers the 4x5" and in my photos there is more vignetting than in your that is shown. So we might be searching for about 200mm Petzval lens... I want something that swirls good enough, but to cover the 4X5".

I really like the quality of this lens but it doesn't cover 4x5 even at close distance.

Well if you don't like it I'll take it! That light falloff is so perfectly beautiful!! Wow, nice.

    Is this a Petzval lens?

And the Finol you use it in rotary or hand developed?

    Thank you!
a Petzval type 35 mm film cinema projection lens, so the image circle is small, see http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Projektionsobjektiv

It reminds me of the 165mm B&L Cinephor I have that I like so much. It, too, has dark corners on 4x5, but I figure that's all part of the look. Nice photo by the way.

Thanks. Your Cinephor covers a little bit more being shorter in focal length. I usually draw the line at 150mm although it can vary as seen with this particular lens. I have a 95mm of the same brand and model but it is a triplet.

    Re: Still-Life Images, 2014

When I got the Cinephor the rear barrel extended well beyond the rear element. Without alteration it mechanically vignetted to an image circle of about 3" in diameter. I almost gave myself tendonitis by cutting down the thick brass barrel with a hacksaw. It took me almost two hours to do this:

I also have an Ed. Liesegang projection Petzval that is 18cm which covers 5x7 just fine but goes dark in the corners on 8x10. Funny things these little "cine" Petzvals, especially when you push them well past their intended coverage limits.

    Re: Still-Life Images, 2014

The "intended coverage" limit is usually the largest diameter at which the lens renders an image of acceptable quality.

If you believe you can, or you believe you can't... you're right.
