    Linhof Master Tech45 and 65mm lens,focusing

I recently bought a used Linhof Master Tech45 and a used 65mm Nikkor Lens. I sho ot mostly 6x7 with the 65mm. My question is there any convenient, easy and cheap way to focus with the 65mm on the Linhof Master Tech45. I know that Linhof has a special focusing device for 58-65mm lenses, but it is way expensive and diffic ult to find a used one in my country.

Thank You, Oddy Lekagul (Bangkok, Thailand)

I have used a 65 Nikkor SW for years on a Technika V and have had very sharp ima ges without the device. It is not easy to focus, but it works. Mounting this lens on a slightly extended lensboard (15 mm - I think Ebony makes one) would position the beds better and make alignment more precise.

After a collegue and I consulted the "Linhoff Book", it says just a flat lens board will do. We do have the focusable lens board at work and it does work nicely but all you have to do is drop the bed. If you do have a recessed board, it would be nice for the added bellows instead of compressing it flat. Scott

    Something is not clear.

With the Wide Angle Focusing Device a flat 2 1/4 Technika board is used. For a 90 or shorter a recessed board is used.

For a 65 Linhof only re commends the Focusing device.

What "LINHOFF" book did you check?

I've never found it necessary to use a recessed board with my 90 mm F 5.6 Super Angulon.

Then you probably do not have it fully and completely on the front rails. Normally with this short a lens and a flat board (required for the 90mm 4.5 Grandagon and all 90mm in Prontor Professionel) the carrier is not all the way on the front rails. This can effect alignment of the lens to film.
