    DIY next restoration

    Before:


    I had to take off the shelack paint, and again clean all of brass elements. This time I used hot water, table salt and acetic acid. After the 15min bath I was able to peel off the brass oxidation by sharp cloth.

    After:

    I replaced all screws, and make it ready for my wet plate works.

    A nice French (?) walnut tailboard chambre de Voyages 13x18 (?) with "turn the bellows" orientation shift.
    Some of these had a black chemical finish to the main brass fittings - as fashions changed during the 1890's.
