In the '72 Bug. Being a downwardly mobile guy, I now have a 1958 Bug.

    '58's definitely a step up, isn't it, in Beetle-speak?

Nice shot. I have owned many Beetles, Buses and 2 Karmann Ghia. I consider 1967 to be the best year, 12 volt, 1600 cc.

In the late 60's we made mud buggies out of them.

These were made by our group. I shot this in 1969.

Absolutely. The '58 still has the classic, German rounded features. A '57 with rear oval window is the next step-up.

Randy, that's cool. Cold, in fact!

    Blizzard, Charlotte Pass. Australia.

Gelatin-silver photograph on Ultrafine Silver Eagle VC FB photographic paper, image size 16.3cm X 21.3cm, from a 4x5 Arista Edu Ultra 400 negative exposed in a Tachihara 45GF double extension field view camera fitted with a Nikkor-W 210mm f5.6 lens.
Titled and signed recto, stamped verso.

It is only April and the snows have started. The road out has no snow plough service and if there isn't a break in the weather the car will stay there until September. This is not good for an automobile; even a Subaru Outback.

Postscript: The weather eased. The car ploughed through. Soobies are great.

My '66 died a Viking's funeral---the battery terminals arc'ed out on the rear seat springs (yeah the protective lid was on----I'm still not sure how that could have happened but that's what the fireman told me.)

Strangely, I only have one photo of one of my cars in LF. And I haven't even scanned it or printed it. And I'm a serious car guy. I don't know why I haven't turned the big cameras on my own cars.

My first car was a 57 bug, last year of the small oval rear window. I wish I still had it. I paid a whopping $28 for the beast and got my moneys worth and then some. It got me through high school and college. I sold it to a friend for $100, then bought it back a year later for the same price and drove it for another year.
