Silver Magnet Silver Recovery Unit still in existence?

Hi everyone,

I found threads here from years past referring to this product:

But unfortunately the company is out of business, and I can't seem to find the product anywhere else in my Internet research. Does anyone know if it still exists somewhere? Or do I just need to go for the car battery trick?

True, but then we still have the issue of what to do with the leftover steel wool. The magnet seems like a really easy method.

i have been a distributer for the silver magnet since the mid 2000s
feel free to contact me either by email or pm, i will be happy to
talk to you about the magnet.
porters never made the magnet, they were a distributer ( like me ), and when they went out of business
I bought all their overstock. there is usually a bag in the box
It is addressed to a refiner that will give you your $$ once the magnet is full.
you don't need to send it to them, you can bring it to anyone who refines silver, tell them
it was from spent fixer ... you can find refiners in on the internet or near you just google "refiners"


the electrolytic magnet needs to be used with spent fixer, not one shot or 4 shot, but spent ...
at least 50-60 parts / million .. the hypo check drops will give you a false reading, but the clip test ( 2x the original unused fixer clear time )
will work. if you use fixer with a magnet or any electrolytic system without enough silver in it, the pickup will turn black and might reek of sulfur ...

if you don't like using your fixer until it is completely spent a trickle tank is full of steel wool and is sealed and will take most of the silver out
of a any concentration ( wash water, used fixer ) but they typically cost about $80 to refine, and unless you are in canada
there is usually a fee involved with having it refined.
