My Ansco studio camera stand had the old original wheels which scratched my wood floors. I purchased some new casters with grey wheels and chrome hardware, not as bad as the gold ball casters I've seen on some, but doesn't look vintage. Also, they don't fit properly and flop around a bit.
After a lot of research, I found wheels from Reid Supply company. The wheels cost about $1 each, but the shipping is about $9, and they fit the original axle.
The axles are peened on both ends, and takes a sturdy punch, and a ball peen hammer to drive out (you may want a machine shop to press them out). Some of the original brass washers were missing, but new steel washers won't be seen. I've included photos of the old and new wheels.
The stock number is WC-1309-14, 2-1/2 X 13/16 Wheel Spartan HR 1/4.
