    It is the same scanner:

    HP Scanjet G4050 Photo Scanner
    Part Number: L1957A
    http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Pr...A&opt=&sel=DEF

The HP drivers are listed for all Win including 8.1. I don't have 8.1 but my bet is that will work with Vuescan X64.

The native scan software gave the numerous negative reviews to this scanner. I didn't even downloaded it.

I think this scanner is highly underrated. It is the only one in production beside the expensive Epson 800/850 that can do 8x10 (or 5x7).

It is a toy but for me, I shoot just for fun, is perfect. The highly negative opinions kept me from buying for a long time.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago. The negative opinions slowed me down, too, but it's turned out fine. I use it for large film, and 1200ppi is more than sufficient for what I do, which is mostly 5x7 and 8x10 B&W for prints up to 13x19, so I haven't tried it above that or for small film. With Vuescan it's been acceptably speedy, too. For the $108 it cost me (new, opened box, third-party on Amazon) I can't imagine how things could have gone better.
Thanks, but I'd rather just watch:

i have 2. Yes it will. Its a bit worse than venerated V700/750 Epson as far as range goes, but its a very good entry level scanner (and 5 times or more cheaper too)
