Custer State Park is beautiful indeed.

Some dramatic terrain, like the Badlands.

Google is my friend: “Rocky Raccoon” is the Beatles song.

I've listened to that Beatles song many times. I will need to again with a different perspective.

One of the days in the Badlands, I would like to take part of the Castle Trail. Anyone have an opinion about the best approach?

A co-worker just returned from vacationing there. He's married to a Lakota woman, so knows the area very well. I'm extracting tips for whenever I might get into that neighborhood.

Lost in the Black Hills, July, early evening.

You can see the remote FR skirting the pond.

I’ve pulled off a two-track and pitched a tent on this hill.

Something about a Romantic betrayal, the good guy doesn't get the girl back.

My memory of the 1960’s is too hazy to recall the song, but I hear a melody.
"Rocky Racoon" from the White Album - the opening line is "Now somewhere in the black hills of South Dakota . . . "
