B&J Wood Field Flatbed 8x10 back dimensions

I picked up a Burke and James 8x10 flatbed (the grey beast) and need to source a back and I need to know the size.

(I don't have the camera yet to measure the opening

If I could have someone measure their back and send me the dimensions that would be awesome!

    Thanks!

If I had known you wanted the measurements I would have done them. Too late now. But as I described in my selling post, B&J's are not all the same size. The 4X5 back you are getting fits the rail model perfectly, but it will need a modification to fit your field model.

I have the same problem with B&J 5X7's.

I think you need very precise measurements.

Have you seen the 8X10 wood back on eBay?

I think the flatbeds should all be the same but of course I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the 1st time, haha
I didn't think about having you measure before you shipped. Not a big deal to wait and measure myself

I am never restoring anything again. i thought about it and then decided, no way.

I definitely will. I restored a 2D a few years ago, it was a lot of fun. I'm gonna go for light wood/red bellows with this one and keep it as a user for my wife and I.

I got a 8X10 grey studio Ansco I should ship you. But no, I just waxed the bare wood and paint and love shooting it. I prefer it over all my other fancier studio 8X10's. The Semi-Centennial stand is the key. That style stand is well designed and is much better than a clunky Arkay upright post stand. You get behind it and simply drive it to frame and pre-focus.

I know you are looking for one. Since you are a restorer, find a grey model. I got my set very cheaply, from a guy who was selling me his junk enlargers. I spotted it in the moldy basement and got it. An entire van full. Took 6 months just to dry it out!

As the brothers loaded my van, they said it was their deceased father's favorite camera...

Then I got a creepy, think the movie, 'Deliverance' feeling and quickly got out of the very isolated area. I usually do not get frightened, but my gut said go, and go quickly. Always listen to your gut.

One brother was rushing me and the other was giving me a strange look, and examining the ropes I had in the van...

I did a sort of restoration on my burke 5x7 flat bed, actually it turned out pretty nice, i put all the screws with the parts they go with together in baggies and actually took pictures with my cell phone of what it looked like when together, when i started putting it back together i used the pictures and had no problem whatsoever, and i am extremely mechanically declined.
"WOW! Now thats a big camera. By the way, how many megapixels is that thing?"
