Deardorff reducing back on Wisner 8x10?

    Hi all,

I want to use a 4x5 reducing back on my Wisner 8x10. Since ordering one from Wisner is somewhat expensive and would take many months, and there seems to be a plethora of cheap Deardorff backs on E-Bay, I'm interestered in converting one for use on my Wisner. By any chance, do the pins line up in the right places to use on the Wisner? If not, does anyone have any experience/suggestions for removing the pins and putting in new ones in the right place? Thanks!

why dont you just grab a 4x5 graflok backs on ebay and screw it on to a wood board that fits your camera back and use it on your wisner..

deardorff backs are 12" square .. just to let you know

Deardorff reducing back on Wisner 8x10?

I don't know about the Deardorff back fitting on your Wisner, Brian, but if you have a 4x5 that uses a removeable back, you might consider adapting that to the 8x10. But, it's not quite like just attaching it to a piece of wood. You need to consider the light trap surfaces of the adapter board, too.

I use both a Toyo 45AX and a Tachihara 8x10 in the field, and a Toyo 8x10 in the studio. So, this is what I came up with for my setup:

The corner joints on the adapter plate are a combination lap and miter to preclude any light path through the corners.
