Impossible project 8x10 instant color protection film

Finally managed to get hold of the pioneer test film. Sharing an image taken last week. The emulsion is the latest colour protection formula. Film was developed with ambient temperature of 27C. Warm colours, pretty good emulsion spread without much streaking. The streaks can still be seen under close observation especially in dark areas (look at the jeans area). By looking at the examples online, it seems that a warmer ambient temperature is better to avoid this problem.

How long did it take for the image to develop? One of the biggest complaints I've heard about the Impossible Project film is how long it takes for any image to appear - hardly "instant."

It took about 15 minutes for most of the blue opacifier to disappear. From the instructions, in 45 minutes, it should be fully developed. However in the development process, you can see how the image change which can be quite interesting.

Great shot!! From the looks of it, they've really improved the process. I can't wait to shoot with this film!

Just shot 2 images using the 8x10 CP film. I kind of like it. I'll post one they're dry enough to scan.

I use a hair dryer to warm the pods up a bit before using them. I do this for all my polaroids, IP 8x10, expired 8x10, and expired 4x5s. John Reuter of the 20x24 studio recommended it to me, to make the chemicals to improve the viscosity and spread of chemicals. I make it slightly warm to the touch, but it will return to normal room ambient temperature before I load it in the processor.

Edit: I guess I should've mentioned this may help you with the blue lines in the pants, which was the whole reason for the post hahaha

Well, here is the result of my first shot on Impossible Project colour film:

Impossible Project 8x10 colour film test by ScottPhoto.co, on Flickr

    Here are my thoughts.

    1. It picks up a lot of red. My wife's hair is a deep, dark colour with red undertones. This film makes it look like she has a red/yellow face and very red hair.
    2. Emulsion issues make it look like she has some kind of skin issue on her back. She doesn't.

All in all it's not horrible but I'm not ready to use this film for anything serious yet as I need to find the most pleasing attributes of this film to utilize.

How was this lit? Could it be a color temperature/balance issue?

This was lit with a 7' umbrella using continuous lights. It absolutely could be a temperature issue. I really don't often shoot colour so it hasn't been an issue to date.
