    A brand new HP G4050 will cost less then that and it will also scan negatives/transparencies up to 8x10.

    Does elements have a merge function?

    Not sure which elements you have. In mine you go to New > (at top of the page) and that takes you to several merging schemes.

    Thanks Les, yes, that's where I eventually found it..

    I did end up taking the advice of Ginette and found the 4990 with everything including the box for $300 + shipping. Once I get it working I'll probably sell the V600.
