I think I've got it figured out, but would like to be sure.

Trickiest thing is how to properly wind onto the first frame. I think I've got many ways to get it wrong so far.

Pass the backing paper under the roller at the far end of the gate, align the two arrows on the backing paper with the marks at the far end of the gate, lower the pressure plate, attach the backing paper to the take-up spool, seat the film cassette, close the back, make sure the exp-load lever is set to load, advance the film until the frame counter shows 1. Set the exp-load lever to exp.

Seems to me that after closing the back, I need to keep the lever at "LOAD" until I wind to where the dial wheel indicator goes to the end of EXP. It make take 1-1/2 wind cycles, to get the wheel to the start of the numeric scale. Then when it gets to the start of the scale, then flip the lever to "EXP" and start making exposures.

Anyway, that is what my experiments with the dark slide pulled, and dead film is showing.

But more experimentation, with focus on consistency needed.
