There is a lot of interest in Wetplate. I have been highly involved (moderate the Collodion.com website since 2010, give workshops, sell lenses and cameras) for a decade, and it's grown a lot. But it's a niche (wetplate), within a niche (large format), within a niche (analog photography). You're not going to get the average person to even notice. They'll notice the new Playstation game....of course.
At a time when more and more film processing labs are shutting down, wetplate is just getting more and more popular so people don't have to be dependent on the industry. It's back to old school, where you make your own, like we did until fairly recently with many things.

If you see the thread statistics you will find 420,123 views. This is no little interest
I regularly check this thread without posting a comment, perhaps I feel that opinions have to be given by practitioners, but I'm very interested in what is posted and done.
A workshop is nice, but there are alternatives, youtube and some web sites explain all, there is plenty of water in the pool, so it's about jumping in.
I also follow this thread regularly. Perhaps because few of us practice the technique, and in general those posting are not asking for critiques or comments, it may appear that there is little interest, but I don't think that is the case.
"This collodion wet plate thread seems to generate very little interest in anyone other than the practitioners. I wonder, why is that?"
same all over...
If you do other alternative techniques, mostly people doing the same show interest.. or so it seems
