View Camera magazine problems.....update

I believe I've been patient enough. It's been a over a month since I e-mailed Steve Simmons and requested a refund of my remaining subscription. On January 14th I received the following e-mail: "The Nov/Dec 2012 issue is on its way. We will refund you for anything
after that date and will also send you the Sept/Oct 2012 issue." I have yet to receive the September/October issue nor a refund. Also, I asked if the refund would include the missing March/April issue. I didn't get an answer to that question but the e-mail suggests I would only receive a refund for subscription remaining after the 2012 November/December issue. Then on February 7th I e-mailed asking about both the 2012 September/October issue and the refund. I did not receive an answer to this latest e-mail. I'm done e-mailing him. Also, I'm not interested in calling him and don't feel I should have to. If I don't receive what I have coming I suppose I'm out two issues and about a year's worth of subscription. I've been a subscriber to View Camera as far back as a few years after the magazine came out, well over twenty years and have every issue--almost. I don't understand the recent inconsistencies I've experienced after many years of uninterrupted service.

I don't understand the reluctance to calling... Andrea is a very nice person to talk to. Are you intentionally biting off your nose to spite your face?

Does she answer the phone now? I tried calling (leaving voice mail each time) and emailing for payment they owed me for over a year before I gave up. They never replied. They still have my money.

Well, its been a couple of years since I've called but I always had the pleasure of her answering. I never had to leave a message.

At least with an email you have some record of what was said. Either there are a lot of lying customers or one lying publisher. Which is it?

at least he is still publishing a magazine ..
i know of at least one publisher who harvested subscription $
put out maybe 3-4 magazines and vanished ...

masterview and garrett why not send a snail mail letter
registered, return receipt requested ..
at least you will know they got your mail ..

I have to admit all these threads have prevented me from subscribing. Whatever's going on can't be good for business.

Don't be excessively influenced by the vocal minority. While some folks indeed have problems with the editor there are many others who do not. One thing you need to accept -- the magazine arrives whenever the magazine arrives. Expecting it on the first day of the month (or any other day) is unrealistic because that just never happens.

Never understood the demand for haste in the delivery of View Camera. Seems anachronistic considering the patience required for doing Large Format photography.
