Coming back to the large format world

    Hi everyone,
I was a member here a number of years ago (and since can't remember my old login details) and at the time was shooting quite a bit of 4x5" on my Shen-Hao. In recent years I have been concentrating on my digital work and only rarely shooting film. I am now ready start some new large format projects and in particular I'm very keen to start learning wet plate

    Cheers,
    Cam.

Welcome back, Cam! I've always been meaning to ask, just how big are the Aussie shrimp that you can barbecue them? Are they hunted with harpoons? Or are they roped from the back of a kangaroo?

Does anyone in Australia chuck shrimps on a barbie? It's a myth promulgated by a successful 1980's tourist advertising campaign. They are prawns.

Prawns still aren't all that large. Much too likely to fall through and onto the coals. Not like Alaskan crab, where the thing spans the entire boat's deck, and it's looking at you like, "Come here and get some!" When I was little, one of my teachers was a commercial fisherman when the season was running, and he would come back with photographs of what they caught.
