    The aperture diaphragm of Triple Achromatic lens comes between the first and second lens group. Have you checked the three lens groups are all 2 elements cemented?

    It was made in Dec 1879 according to H. Thiele's Steinheil book. But the lens type he gave is Tubus 30" which is obviously wrong.
    This lens looks very much like an Aplanat.

    Are you shooting with the lens wide open? Normally the process lens is optimized for 1:1 when stopping down to f16 or smaller apertures. Try stopping the lens to f22 or smaller you will get a better...

    The focus length and coverage of this RVP accord with mine. 10.75” for 5x8 and 12.47 for 6.5x8.5. And the serial numbers are not far away. Maybe TTH changed specifications for later RVPs?

    As Dan said, the lens aperture is limited by the max opening of the Koilos shutter. Your shutter should be no.2 with 25mm opening.
