I think you should start...
My wooden adapter is not flat across... it is beveled from the edge of the 4x5 to the edge of the adapter.

In order of preference....
8x10, 4x5, 5x7, 3x4, and 2x3.
In order of ease of use from start of process to finish...
4x5, 3x4, 5x7, 2x3, and 8x10.
Ease of learning...
Grandma was slow, but then... she was old. *L*
Yep, about ten minutes. Buy the whole graflok back off a junk Speed, unscrew it, screw it in place on the 5x7 reducing back.

My 2 pesos...
If I wanted to learn about LF procedures I would not use a 2x3 graphic. 4x5? Maybe, but understand you will get the process down but not the technique for movements. Depends on what...
As many have recommended.... Deardorf V8. Many field cameras were based upon this trend setting design. You should be able to get a V8 with single lens, a couple of backs (4x5, 5x7) for 2k in great...
That situation never happens.
Cameras are cameras if they have ever or never have taken a picture. They have history. They did a job, they did it to the best of their designed capability. That...
Certainly wouldn't have a place next to my V8. I guess you could find a 210 w.a. lens or so that might work with it for landscape sort of shots but not for 6900 dollars.

The issue is.... if you don't link it, there are transactions you cannot do. And then again, you are correct, I would never link it to my personal checking account. Too many horror stories, mostly...
Agfa APX 100 in sheet film

Ummm... how many times you gonna try that joke? We all know if the image is upside down, you merely put the lens in top side bottom.

Nice catch Bob. Interested in a Fujica FM3 with screw mount lens?

Tony,
This is a LARGE format forum. What you have is a teeny tiny format.
But roughly speaking... about 25 bucks if it all works.

Answers need to be not vague representations of misinformation. Super glue is a generic name and just as many work on porous materials as don't. Frankly, your answer lacks validity. No matter who the...
The 5x7 grover has wooden frames but metal standards. At least mine does. It has a hex shaped rail and cast supports. The 5x7 field camera has both wood standards and frames. Forget the name they...
1.) I'll look around. I have a diverse combination of holders, in all sizes. One or more might be 5x7 plate.
2.) 30 is obscenely young.

The first step to building something like a 5x7 back is to ask if anyone has one they want to sell. I like working in wood as well as anyone but life's too short to re-engineer something that was...
Never. I shoot digital as a recording medium. The Nikon has not been out in a couple of years. But...
LF 8x10 is what it is. If the film goes away, i stop shooting. Digital just records, LF (and...
Funny we all go separate ways.
I am 54, been involved in photography for 35 years or so, mostly as a hobby... yet I am getting rid of all the smaller format items from my collection and keeping the...
You are affecting the order of the universe. What concern is it of yours that some schmuck is trying to make a profit on something they know nothing about?

That be about ten bucks a plate at today's exchange rate.

If she wasn't dead. For close to 50 years.

I am also an enthusiastic rube. I want to see how this all plays out too.

Yes. Looks like a 'D'.
I shoot a model 'B' in 3x4 size where bagmags, roll film and film holders can be found with a bit of search.
Much prefer to haul the 3x4 rb around to an rb. The rb...
And don't EVER look at an 8x10 negative.
It's all over then. Ask me how I know.

I own both and the difference is night and day. One is a precision tool , the other takes photos after a fashion.
Own a Deardorff and you might never go back to your Sinar. Problem is, to get a...
For your environment, I would start with a Unicolor drum and motor. If and when you find your shooting style and volume decree a decrease in processing time, spring for the Jobo. I process all my...
The fidelitys are nothing but junk. Send them to me and I'll take care of them for you.

The riteways are nothing but junk. Send them to me and I'll take care of them for you.

Brad,
Ya haven't gotten that V8 out in the field yet. While I love my Speed, the first time under the hood of a Deardorff, you'll understand the Graphics are just not in the same league.
I am...
I am afraid you all don't have enough money to buy my work, decorator or not...
But you can sure try hard. Make me an offer. *L*

Ya know, I love my Deardorff... but when I first got it, I looked at those knobs and thought... "What a dumb design".
The rest of the camera makes up for it.
tim in san jose
And where is the waste?
I like my 8x10 but ya know, sometimes 5x7 is what is called for. Contact portraits for example. Take your time setting up a 5x7 portrait and you'll be amazed what you can...
I use my 3x4 on a tripod all the time. And yes, I am 10 feet tall.
Really, I just put the legs of the tripod down real short. Mount the rb, and use it for a different perspective than if I were...
Not to argue whether he should buy one or the other... to me, it's a no brainer. I have used Sinars (a really long time ago) and know they are a nice system.
I was just wondering... I have a...
So it's your contention that a solid monorail is more stable than my Deardorff V-8 on top of a Bogen 3036? In the wind?
Why?

Makes more sense. Thank you for clarifying this. The original Luna Pro rocks!.
tim in san jose
Not end of story. Your experience.
I have used two Luna pros over 24 years the first one the battery lasted about 14 years. The second (with the voltage adapter put in it) is running on it's first...
It actually wasn't Kev. His apology was quite acceptable. It was someone else's backhanded comment on what camera he had bought that I was commenting on. And no, I am not flamer. I am genuinely...
I would find out if there are any local clubs for people who make their own telescopes. They would know the cheapest, reliable sources for your grit.
