Mine is an old Zone VI canvas dark cloth that I bought in the 80's. White on one side, black on the other, weights in the corners. It's heavy, it doesn't really stay in place when I'm using it but...

    Re: Drobo issues

I think you're lucky to get 5 years out of a drive these days. I use Backblaze, a Drobo, several external drives, and a raid 0 drive for files I'm currently working on (1gb scans). Haven't had a...

    Re: Best Drum Scanning Service?

Am I doing the math incorrectly, a 16-bit bw scan at 19,200 x 24,000 pixels would be a 900gb file? I'm nuts right?

I've been through this exact form of gyration.

  6. Re: Identifying Crown Graphic RF cam focal length & setting up infinity stops

What thickness brass did you use? I guess I could just take my cam out and compare. :)

Did you start with a particular shape when making the cam and just grind it down manually until it focused...
  7. Re: Interchange lens between large format cameras

But really, how is it "too much time" to switch lens boards?

I mean, are you shooting with two cameras at the same time, with the same lens? That's an interesting technique.

    Otherwise, this...

Re: Using and Modifying the Travelwide 4x5 camera

How did you get a Polaroid 405 to fit in the Travelwide? Mine won't. It's way too tall for the end of the spring clips. This camera would be better with something like the way graflok backs are held...

Re: Using and Modifying the Travelwide 4x5 camera

I'm so glad I read this thread. The distance scale is in meters? I was wondering why mine was so off!

(yeah, it's right there in the instructions, but, I need BIGGER print!)

    Re: Polaroid Sprintscan 45 Ultra

Are you sure the problem is Vuescan? I briefly owned the 45U, and had lines using the original software. The problem turned out to be a bad SCSI cable. I've had the same problem with my drum scanner....

I use Lightwaves in SF. Never had a problem. Consistent results. They seem to process enough film daily that they're staying in business and chemicals are fresh. :)

Re: Favorite 8x10 Field Camera and why?

    Re: Hanging 44" prints

Yup, the only thing I've read is that some paper is too heavy for the plastic clips. It gives me an idea though, to create something similar that would clamp a set of aluminum bars top and bottom.
