  1. Re: What's happened with moderators since my last 2007 presence here?

Anyone who wants to experience a forum with no rules or moderation can easily go to 4chan. If you think people will behave and moderate themselves without rules, spend a week there. Come back and...

  5. Re: Adobe is going to only sell subscription based Photoshop

Under the past model, Adobe had to make upgrades because each generation of software would bring in a lot of money at its release, then it would taper off as the market became saturated. A new...
  6. Re: Adobe is going to only sell subscription based Photoshop

That's my bigger concern. What if they don't have major updates for three years? I would end up paying $30x36, so $1080, assuming no price increases during that time. I paid only $180 or so for...
  7. Re: Adobe is going to only sell subscription based Photoshop

I see this like buying a book. I own a copy that I can pick up and read anytime I want, but now I will have to send a check to the author every month if I decide to read it.
  8. Re: Adobe is going to only sell subscription based Photoshop

I qualify for the academic discount, but that doesn't mean I want to rent software or can afford it.

Re: KY Derby LF not welcome

That rule has been in effect for years. One of Churchill Down's revenue streams is from the sale of photographs of the Derby. They do not want competition.

    Re: Sepia Toning Too Strong

That is very similar to reverse sepia toning in which the print is put through the toner first, then bleached, then retoned. I find the color on Ilford MG IV to be more of a cool chocolate brown...

  19. Re: The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated (Velvia 50)

Do they not manufacture an 8x10 color negative film anymore? Or is that simply not included in the repackaging notice?

  29. Re: 6x7 or 4x5 Dichro head for 8x10 dichro light source

My DeVere 5108 dichro head had 4 bulbs, 300 watts each. It is far too bright and I need to use a 3 stop ND filter to use an aperture of f/11 and a printing time around 6 seconds for an 11x14 print.
