    I tested my SP-445 yesterday and got ridge marks from the film holders too. After scanning, they did not appear to show up, but still, scratches of any kind are not acceptable. I may try it again...

    Thanks Scott, it was a Dallmeyer 3b wide open. Although it will cover 8x10 at portrait distances, shooting it on 6x8 allows a little distance, and uses more of the sharper sweet spot of the lens...

    if you are clean, you should get minimal silver stains. It all depends on how well you clean the plate holder and make sure your gloved hands are clean before touching the camera. Over time though,...

    I did mine by just replacing the hood ring back on in the same place (friction fit) and used my gas stove to heat a few key areas around the hood. It re-melted the solder, I just heat up 3 points...

    If you move in closer, you will crop the image, and should get shorter exposures. With my Interfit SC655 Coolite kit, and 300mm Tessar @ f4.5 I get around a 3 second exposure. At f5.6, that is 6...

    I would recommend the interfit kit. I am down to 4 second exposures with my dallmeyer 3b wide open using 2 SC655 heads using the octoboxes without the diffusers. They work very well.
