Not to beat a dead horse, but to be honest, I subscribed and have only had 3 issues delivered so far, but I was...
  7. Re: Fast Wides vs "slow" wides and night photography

Thanks Bob, I mean, why? As in the science behind it.

Also, how far out does it actually affect? Like, the 150 covers 11x14, but if you use an 8x10 or 4x5 will it matter more or less?

    But more...
  8. Re: Fast Wides vs "slow" wides and night photography

There's tech info and there's artistic choice. The ideals of each don't always line up.

My statement above was supposed to be helpful, meaning, you can be given all the info, but you can't be...

  11. Re: Fast Wides vs "slow" wides and night photography

Listen to Bob mostly and ignore the rest is my suggestion.

However from personal experience f/16 with 100 speed film will only give faint trails, either 400 speed film or f/11 or f/8 would be...

    Film Drying, Best Practices

    Kirk,

I'm going to second the "I steam up my bathroom before hanging my film" sentient.

I've also found that this method of the steam enveloping the dust particles and then drags them to the...

Wow thanks for those details! Awesome read! Sorry about the non-credit that's frustrating. Glad that machine is still working and continuing to be utilized so well.
  22. Poll: Re: Poll: Tmax400 (TMY-2) vs Tri-X Pro (320TXP), which do you favor more?

Sorry Bob, I was going off what I thought Oren had said.

Why can't a LightJet / Lambda expose any kind of light sensitive material? Isn't it just basically a projector like any other enlarger...
  23. Poll: Poll: Tmax400 (TMY-2) vs Tri-X Pro (320TXP), which do you favor more?

He said they used a LightJet drew. So the PS file was grouped as a 4 image shot and then exposed onto the 8x10 as a single exposure.

  27. Poll: Re: Who is shooting what format? Your reply requested.

4x5, 8x10, 14x17 wish we could poll more than 10 sizes, this doesn't help as much with any concrete data if all the sizes aren't accounted for.

Maybe have separate polls for the smaller sizes and...

Re: How to clean LF glass?

I use alcohol to clean the entire lens and shutter, only on modern lenses/shutters, then use water after to clear the streaking, then use a micro-fiber cloth, then blow it all out and re-assemble.

  40. DIY 1 to 1 fixed focus 14x17 box portrait camera questions

    Hey Randy.

I did something much simpler to make it a true fixed focus box camera (it's a cardboard box) and is much lighter.

You could probably just remove the front and rear frames from the...
