For width greater than height you have to print in landscape - just reverse the dimensions in the paper setttings and use it landscape.

Once I added a center filter to my 90mm (86mm thread) I changed to the Z-Pro range.

I used to use Cinepaint (and Gimp) - up until about a 18 months ago - for all my photo processing.
I can tell you that when I moved to Photoshop my productivity increased about 10 fold.

Epson scan is fine for most work.
I use Vuescan for colour negatives as a find it easier.
You don't need (but may want) Silverfast SE for scanning.
Photoshop elements will let you make local edits...
