Thank you for posting, quite a long and sad story.
Here in Canada, we have had kind of the opposite happen, where folks, sometimes tourists, sometimes not, get stuck in the COLD wilderness, some...
When I did some colour in trays, I put the process trays in other trays with warm water that was slightly higher temp, as you are doing. However, I was working in a smallish room, and used a...
This sounds like something I'd go for to. I'm using the Combiplan tanks, which are the best tanks I've used. Hope you can make it reality.

I will only add, that personally, if it were available, I would buy a 25 ASA speed B&W in 4X5, and 120.
Thanks for all the info, folks.

I've used this tank to do 4X5, but have had issues trying to get enough agitation with it. Some things work, but when I've had large areas of even tone, ie sky, it has been uneven. I've tried several...
For manual processing, I've used a number of methods, but I like the Combiplan tanks the best.

Hi yah Bob, here's my comments, for whatever they're worth.
With my kids, some of their "friends" treat it like a kind of p...... contest, the more you have the better. Me, I just think it's BS. If...
Lovely work, Harley.
Keith
I tried all the images, but could not open any of them!

I'm quite interested in how this works out for you. I'm nearly finished the old Adox CMS I have.
I bought some a couple of years ago, and it worked well for me. Shipping was quite inexpensive, and quick.
The price now seems to be quite a bit higher than I recall.

My Dad taught me how to use sheet film when I was a teenager in the 70's, then I moved into 35mm photography, kind backwards to many folks.
I'm still using the Speed Graphic that my Dad bought...
I've done quite a bit of tray processing with Xtol at 1:1, but never used Tri-X. Delta 100, Acros 100, and a bit of Tmax are my usual films.
My method is more like the "lift and drain" technique,...
I use a Gralab, and have not any trouble with fogging film during processing. Can't remember the model, but this is one that has phosforescent numbers, which hold their luminosity fine for the...
Folks;
This is such an inspiring thread, it seems like there's one great shot after another! A bit intimidating, too. I hope that I will have something worth posting when I get through my...
This is a great forum, and many knowledgable folks that are willing to share their expertise.
Have fun!

I use XTOL and don't presoak. I generally shoot Acros, TMY and Ilford films, and have never had any issues.

I've bought and sold flashbulbs, and sent them through USPS, without incident. I always pack them very well, with lots of packing between them and the sides of the box.
Keith
I agree, neat looking camera, post some more images soon!
Keith
I have no idea what happened to the original poster, perhaps he found that LF was not he expected, but personally I find this thread one of the most interesting, and inspiring one going.
Also, to...
Doing B&W through an enlarger is still a good option, since you have the skills, and if you "do it right", ie., fibre paper properly processed, it will last longer.
Though when you get nicely set...
Beautiful work everyone! Love this thread. Inspires me to get back out there with my trusty 4X5 to try to get some worthwhile photographs!
Keith
Shouldn't expect any speed shift, and likely no colour shift, but that would depend on storage. Like other poster's have mentioned, I too, am shooting colour trans film that is 5 yrs or so out of...
My fave has been a 8X Nikon loupe, that is adjustable for my eyes. I also have an old Agfa loupe.

I have a small can of Acufine I bought in the early seventies, and it is still sealed. I'm afraid to use it and spoil my film.
The only to know would be to mix it and see if it works. A very...
I find the pictures are too small these days, didn't they used to have larger ones?
Keith
Don't get wsj, can you supply a link or a synopsis of the article?
Keith
Great stuff everyone! Very inspiring!
Keith
Well, this is another 127 mm f4,7 Ektar, on a Speed Graphic. I still have the lens, but haven't used it for a while, though the camera still gets used often!
Keith
Tough for anyone but you to make the choice. I shoot with an old Speed Graphic, and the widest I have is 75mm, and I find I really don't use it for landscape too much, I prefer the 90mm or 127mm....
Beautiful camera! My Dad used one of those for many years!
Keith
Jim;
Love your shot, it reminds me of one of my favourite places here in Ontario.
Keith
Could be the power supply, but I'm not an expert. Have you tried doing a "google" search for ways to debug it?
Keith
I too, used to work in a Custom Lab, and tested most of these lenses from time to time. I never had an El-Nikkor in the longer focal lengths, but in my comparisons of the 210's - 300's, found the...
It's additive! Welcome!

My oldest is from around 1900, a guess only though, a brass barrel lens that has been off of a camera as long as I've been alive! My grandfather scavenged it in the thirties or forties and used it as...
Something like a Crown or Speed Graphic would be an inexpensive choice to get your feet wet doing LF shooting. Large format takes some getting used to, and I think that you will need some practice to...
Joel, awesome image! I've shot similiar subjects, but never have got anything as nice as yours! Congrats!
