Sorry. I missed that.

In 1966 I attended my first of four Ansel Adams Yosemite workshops and was offered an opportunity to purchase his photographs at his gallery at a discounted price. I selected two prints: 16x20...
This is the picture you're referring to. I got the case and carry straps when I bought my 5x7 Norma around '70; both are still practically new condition. I cringe every time I see this. it'd be...
Is this what you're looking for? It's not really clear to me how it works, but I trust Kumar.

Set the shutter speed to the reciprocal of the number the needle points at; e.g., if it points to 25 c/sq.ft. set the shutter to 1/25 sec. Having established the combo of shutter speed and f/stop,...
Not so, Bill. His Exposure Formula requires readings in candles/sq.ft. (not foot candles) and then the shutter speed is the reciprocal of candles/sq.ft. Other than that you're correct.
Doremus, I’ve found something interesting in this regard. When I tested HP5+ sheet in HC-110B with step tablet in camera, measuring fb+fog at the rebate, the results agreed with your comment. Testing...
Some time ago I found the formula that explains all this in Way Beyond Monochrome Ed.2, so I created an Excel file that allowed me to calculate and plot the curves that result. I’ll attach an image...
I don't mean to be critical, and I don't think anyone who may have noted the error really cares, but Mt. St. Helens is not in the North Cascades and actually is in the southern part of Washington....
Here's another previously posted one. This one was made on 3rd Burroughs Mtn (7800 ft.) not far from Sunrise on the NE side of Mt. Rainier with a view of Winthrop Glacier. Burroughs Mtn is really a...
Here’s a favorite image I made back in 1971 on my first 10-day backpack trip with my new 4x5 Sinar Norma. This is Prusik Peak (~ 7800ft.) in the Enchantment Lakes region of the Central Cascades in...
Maybe "recycle" was the wrong word. Make that the "recirculate" button.

Just a note on this. A few recent years ago, my 4Runner had some mice get into it while parked in my garage. Turned out they found access to the glove box via the 'recycle' duct (that's the duct that...
John, most color films do not take to high contrast scenes well, requiring an exposure that renders desirable highlights and lets the shadows fall where they will, but I can suggest a technique to...
There's a 30-day wait after your join date before you can get visibility of the Want-to-Buy section of the forum. You can then find that subforum by clicking on the Forum tab at the top of a page,...
I share your issue with names. But for everything else, I have no memory problem ... it's a RECALL problem. It's in the brain somewhere if I can just find it.
[QUOTE=John Layton;1580243]
Willi Unsoeld passed away a few years after this....a climbing accident on (I think) Mt. Raineer.
Yes, John, I recall reading the shocking story in the paper the day...
This reminds me of an outing at one of AA's Yosemite workshops. A group of participants was turned loose to find images in a junkyard, led by one of AA's assistants - a painter. One of the young...
Corran, I don't do color work anymore, but regarding b&w I do recall AA suggesting the use of a #47 (C5) deep blue filter to enhance the 3D effect of distant bluish haze. But the rather large filter...
You could try using PEC-12 cleaner with PEC PADs to see if it'd clean the marks. It's amazing stuff.

The top one looks like Kodak Ektachrome E100SW. And I'd say brighamr has pegged the lower one correctly.
Also there is this link to Sinar-specific info (much contribution from European users in English) and section dedicated to Norma:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/sinarusers/
This is where I found...
Thanks for the links via "the list." I found what I needed to know in the Symmar Brochure 1962, already in English. Here is a .png that isolates the info.
Apparently I'm living in darkness, so I'm asking.
Oren, this sounds good to me - many thanks. Apparently, you have a link to this info for both SA's and Symmars that I'd really appreciate having. It seems nearly all the bookmarks I have made for...
Dan or anybody, I've spent many hours searching these many links unsuccessfully trying to find the design magnification range for my six lenses: 3 f8 Super Angulons (90/121/165) & 3 f5.6 Symmars...
Such a beautiful image, Lasse, but I'm curious about something. I went to Google Maps to locate Borka and found that, in Satellite mode, no such mountain exists anywhere near there. In fact all the...
I discovered something worth knowing this week. The fact that the bulb lights up does not mean that all is well. My SEI developed a very “jittery” rheostat and very difficult to get the ammeter to...
I once developed a light leak with my Sinar Norma that was caused when the light baffle in the camera back was letting loose near its trimmed end at the corner of the back, and it had doubled back...
Quite the mystery. It's a shame that one of the meters does not provide the high brightness range, since that's the range most daylight luminances fall. But at least you have the white medium range...
Well, you certainly lucked out with your resolution of this issue. Good thinking on your part. When you contact Bill be sure to mention what color your microswitch button is. When I bought my SEI in...
I'd suggest you get in touch with Bill Burk via PM; I'm sure he can help. In the Photrio thread link I gave you, click on his name & then click "Start a Conversation" (in Photrio a PM is called a...
My SEI is still working just fine, but I’m certainly no expert on this meter, nor am I really qualified as an electrical engineer. But I can offer some suggestions. First, it seems that since you say...
Attached is a scan of a print on Galerie paper I made of the Winthrop Glacier on Mt. Rainier from a ridge at 7800’ altitude a few years back. At that time I wasn’t too versed with filter effects, so...
Here's the page on Photrio where Oren Grad posted (#27) the MSDS for a 2014 version compared to the MSDS for the 2019 version. I'm no chemist and don't know if this will be any help in deciding...
fix_se, I have a Gitzo PL5 that I can offer you, provided you're in the U.S. PM me if interested and we can discuss.
Lots of rounding off here. 15 ft = 4.572 meters.
Not a big deal, but I've always used the conversion 1" = 25.4 mm
I'm reminded of the time I had a master machinist cut a hole in a Sinar aluminum lensboard. He put the board in a lathe and cut a perfectly clean hole ALMOST all the way through the metal, then with...
To add to the "beating", I reserve my lensboard space to corrections for ACTUAL shutter speeds (which change occasionally), since my Sinar lensboards are 140x140mm (5.5" square) and with large...
