Re: How do you wash your dark cloth?

The safest method for cleaning your BLACKJACKET is to follow the instructions on the care label inside the cloth. "Gently hand-wash with a mild detergent. Drip dry."

    Those instructions are mainly...

    Re: Dust spotting scans

Much like Tim, with these steps:

But, I spot every file I scan at 100%, and I always scan at full resolution (4000 spi with the Nikon 8000 and 6400 spi with the Epson). The wet mount prep...

Re: Nikon 8000 users help needed

I've had my 8000 for over a decade now, and have been wet mounting for nearly half that time. The original holder was worthless for keeping the film flat, or as polygot noted, sucks. I borrowed an...

Yup. Especially from the western shore of the lake.

    Re: Cathedral Peak???????

As you surmised, there is a climbers route (hike) that is shorter than the main trail. It goes to the lower lake. The short-cut is not physically demanding, but there are a few spots where one can...

Photography is like any language. We all struggle to learn a few words initially, string a few sentences together, and eventually become conversant. But the true command of the language comes with...
  13. Re: Where/when to go in Yosemite in February?

Looks like you're right Vaughn. Just checked the webcams again and the views from Sentinel and Turtleback look promising. The cloud layer is dropping, and that, at least usually means rain.

  14. Re: Where/when to go in Yosemite in February?

Sigh... Looking at the webcams today hasn't been uplifting...

We got hammered here in Boise between 8 and 11 in the morning with six inches of white stuff yesterday before it shifted to rain....
  15. Shooting the West XXIV March 7-11, 2012

Well, NPS issued a release earlier today stating Tioga Road would close tonight (Tuesday) at 7 pm in advance of the system.

Glacier Point Road would remain open unless conditions deteriorate.

Re: Do you use a dark cloth?

Re: Pull out the darkslide entirely?

I use a similar approach, so long as there is no back tilt. With my Toyo, when I tilt the back, I can't insert a film holder from the bottom, nor can I remove the back to rotate its position.
  22. Poll: Re: A poll about patience ― how do you wait for the wind to calm?

  24. Poll: Re: A poll about patience ― how do you wait for the wind to calm?

    Early man-o-pause. :-)

Exactly. Your body heat generates micro thermals that can induce movement in plants with delicate stems. Some twenty years back, it was Pat Ohara that was the first person I...
  25. Poll: Re: A poll about patience ― how do you wait for the wind to calm?

  26. Poll: Re: A poll about patience ― how do you wait for the wind to calm?
