    Re: how old are we?

Ditto. I turned 69 in September and am definitely slowing down. I just moved from Massachusetts to Arizona, and hoping this is my last move.
  2. Re: Labs to develop E6 and C41 colour ULF films

Northeast Photographic https://www.northeastphotographic.com/ does large format C41 and E-6. I don't know how large they go, but it's worth an inquiry.

    Re: Focusing, glasses, & LF

I am very nearsighted, too (about -5 diopter) with a little astigmatism in my left eye. I am also in my 60s, so I have little to no accommodation left. I use Toyo 8x10 and Toyo 4x5 field cameras. The...

    Re: Omega Enlarger Timer Problem

It does sound exactly reversed - like your desk lamp is plugged into the safelight socket on the timer.
  6. Re: Unopened Kodak B/W Chemicals - How long do they last?

If the developer powder has any brown tint, it has started to oxidize, probably because of a leak in the container. Throw it out if so.

    Congratulations!
  8. Re: Karlheinz Stockhausen music composer analogy - PSF Question

The PSF is not simple to calculate or understand. Using the terminology of linear systems theory, the PSF is indeed the impulse response of the lens. It depends on the aberrations present, the...
  9. Re: lens board for 90mm Fujinon SWC f/5.6 on Toyo 45AII

I use a flat lensboard with 90mm Schneider Super Angulon with no problem on my 45AII.

Do you need the recessed board? No.
Could you use the recessed board? Yes, but why? Unless you already have...

Re: When does Photo-Flo go bad?

I have some photo-flo that I've been using for about 50 years, and it was old when I got it. It seems to work fine.

Re: Kodak Multi Film Holder (4x5)

Here’s a photo. I use them (as well as 8x10 hangers) in one-gallon stainless 8x10 tanks. They hold up to six hangers and show up on the bay fairly cheap.

Re: Kodak Multi Film Holder (4x5)

I can tell they are designed to fit in 8x10 tanks, and that's how I use mine. I'll measure mine when I get home tonight, unless someone else has a quicker answer.

    Re: DIY Darkroom Trays/Sink?

I did the same with a plywood sink I made 20 years ago. I then painted with epoxy marine paint as others have mentioned. Alas, I was divorced soon after and had to leave it behind.

    About 50 years...
  16. Re: What is the difference in VIEW from 35mm to 8 x 10 with normal lens?

You can also use rise/fall to prevent vertical lines from converging, as will happen when you point your 35mm up to capture tall trees or buildings.
  17. Re: Alternative to traditional pinhole on an 8x10

I remember hearing (reading?) that Edward Weston did this. His famous Pepper #30 was done in a similar way (he put the front element back on), and I recall the exposure was several hours at f/256.

Re: omega lens cones produce reflection

Now that I see your photo of the effect, it must be something else, but I'm not sure what. I assume you're worried about the large-diameter ring that is well outside the image.

Re: omega lens cones produce reflection

I suspect the problem is caused by reflection from the underside of the negative carrier, after reflecting from the lens or unpainted lens cone. The early negative carriers were bare aluminum on top...

I built a home darkroom a couple of years ago and have an Omega D2V enlarger for 4x5 and smaller and a Beseler 45MX with 8x10 conversion head for 8x10. The two enlargers sit on a heavy steel table of...

    Re: Greetings from snowy Boston

Greetings from the outer suburbs of Boston. I agree that 4x5 is the way to start in large format. This is what I did almost 50 years ago, as a teenager. 8x10 was simply unaffordable then. Even now,...

  33. Re: Wide angle lens suggestions - Rodenstock Grandagon 75/4.5

  34. Re: Does stopping down a lens cover edge imperfections/separation/fungus/etc.?

    - with the lens mounted on the camera, aim the camera at a dark background.
    - shine a...
