This camera is a piece of art...well done.
Amazing photographs are to be had in Fresno...I know a bunch of salty old cropdusters there with great airplanes
and cool old hangers. There is also a ton of unemployment there due to the drought...
I loved that place Paul...I lived across from it in Manhattan. I'm sure some condos will take its place. Man, it must suck to be a film maker
looking for gritty waterfront scenes in NY these...
I don't know about the rest of you, but when I take the time to shoot LF, the last thing I want to hear from
anyone is about another APP. Jeez.
Hard to beat an Autometer 4F
I embrace every influence of Adams on me. Most of it is darkroom technique. I am not into the zone
system for instance, but do strongly practice his pre-visualization...when I look at the scene...
Arca-Swiss
Me too....I am in huge support of Clyde....I think he is a gift to photography!
To understand what's involved with his work in the everglades....he can never put anything down!
A true master.
It is a shame that the film funding project failed...would have been nice to see. I must say, I found the trailer very
flat and uninteresting. Take a look at the 2002 Ansel Adams documentary for...
I'm a little confused with the Karsh part of the OP's original Q...I have seen some Karsh prints in person, and although
it was years ago, I do remember them being very sharp...look at the portrait...
Soory, I realize the OP was looking for color 4x5...when I worked in NY, we used Print Zone in NY
for all our color neg processing...they were great.
Chelsea Photographic services...they used to be called Chelsea Labs I think...
I'm pretty sure these were the guys we used back in the early 2000's....lots of good photogs used them...
Jim...
Man, I thought all of the pay phones were long gone by 2007....?
I don't think Fotocare is open on Saturday...
Not sure I'm sold on the whole 3D printing thing really...quite honestly, I know nothing about it. If I was to do a CAD file on it, it would be my intention to
have them done in Aluminum...I may...
I find the original design very nice to look at, but I see your point with being a wee bit rough to use...generally, I'm not
needing to tighten much though. I think if I do actually ever waste the...
Jac,
I'm doing a little research out of interest. I think it's safe to assume these Linhof handles were made out of Bakelite? I agree with Randy Above, that
it would have been better to go with a...
Thanks Jac...McM have been a great source for goods for me for years. I''m hoping for an original one if poss.
Shoot OP, sorry about that Mate...I thought you were US based...enlargers are that hard to come by down there?
My concern would be fabricating one where alignment was spot on. All the best of luck...
No idea, but not a fan of that approach. Just simply have this nice old camera I enjoy shooting with when the spirit catches me, and
just wanted to get the right knob for it.
Hello everyone,
Just looking into the possibility that a member may have parts on hand for a Linhof Color 4x5 camera...in particular, the Red (Bakelite?) main rail clamp
knob as seen in the photo...

You can likely find a used Beseler 45MX for under $300 in good cond. I know, I just sold one.
Why go to all the trouble when a little money parted saves a ton of time.
I got a mint Jobo 2521 Series tank, reel and the Jobo Loader Base/Guide for $40. Guy who sold it to me was super cool.
I'm not referring to the actual processor units, but rather the simple hand processing tanks...$175 for a Jobo 2521? That is price gouging. Fortunately, I found one such
unit with the 4x5 loader...
Wow...that Sodium bisulfite can has to be older than I am. Would look cool on a shelf next to an old
Graflex.
Good day all,
Just thought I'd ask you all out there for your take on Hand processing (inversion) 4x5 in JOBO 2521 tanks with PMK Pyro...
Does anyone do it? How have your results been?
...
Hi Michael,
Ultimately, we all search for the best quality in our images...a Holga, although it has it's little niche deal going
on, quality is not going to be a part of the equation. But...it's...
There is no issue mailing liquid. I shipped PMK Pyro stock solution to Maui and back. Photographers Formulary, who I highly
recommend, ship powders and liquids. Liquid stock solution form is easier...
I found a JOBO unit on Craigslist locally-a 2500 Series with loading guide. Got
it for a really nice price.
StoneNYC,
That is a sweet set-up.
I used to love it when "intellectuals" would go into endless analyzation of a specific photographers gallery images who I'd been working for.
They went into great detail about how the image captured...
Ya, definitely don't take my advice. I have to be honest, I have not lived in the world of fine art photography really,
or academia. I have however worked for several prolific photographers in NY...
Ya mate,
the phone is a good bet...hopefully the guys at Beseler
will help you out.
Just my two cents, but the NASA sites today and their crumbling condition...if you're looking for deep meaning or social commentary...
there it is. That, pardon the pun, is concrete social...
Personally, I think you are looking for too much meaning in your images, and trying to take your
artwork too seriously. By no means am I insulting you, I think it's wonderful that you are involved...
Bruce,
Thanks for your input...the one thing I agree whole heartedly with is the quality of the Jobo and it's high quality results...
I've been using the 1500 Series for a long time and have...
Is Beseler no longer offering info on any second party repair service company?
(forgive me if that is common knowledge-getting up to speed here) :)
One source might be to contact Jeff at Fotocare...
I'll get back with you shortly Mate...
