Here's a lo-res scan of a proof shot made on Fuji FP-100B. Yeah, I think it is good enough for hi-res scans and further work. Please note that the scan shown below is larger than the original print....
Type 55, facing into the sun.

Ditto the recommendations for TMY-2 and Pyrocat. Probably the most flexible and capable film/developer combo going, IMO. FP4+ and Pyrocat is another great combo.
Another day in the Kansas Flint Hills with the 7x17.

Michael, any idea how many sheets will be in an 8x20 or 16x20 package?
I've started using 7x17 and can live with either pre-cut 8x20 or else cut down 16x20.
Those are pretty much my feelings too. I will add that I also love the challenge, and results, of translating a scene form its natural state of color to an abstract scene in B&W.
Or if you really can't stand either one, I'll gladly junk them for you! :D
Honestly, there wasn't anything I couldn't successfully print on PolyMax. That's why I liked it so well.
Enjoy it! ??? ;)
I just haven't quite found another VC paper that works as well.
I'm not sure about the limited coverage. I've nearly tied my bellows in a knot and have not had coverage problem. Great lens. I think they are way underrated for some reason.
Hunert' year-ol' Folmer & Schwing 7x17, FP4+ (new :p ), 15" Wollensak, Slavich Unibrom G3. 40-second exposure.
Type 55, printed on Kentona.
I've been using it all this year in the 7x17 with no problems at all.
Hot DAMN! Edwards County native myself. Although haven't lived there for many years, its still home. Just passed through and stopped in Kinsley last month. Here's one from that day. Welcome! Hope you...
OK, here goes. This is a recent one and its a Polaroid Type 52 print so no cropping or enlarging.
First constraint was physical, as it usually is for me. I set up across the road from the...
Fuji FP100B is the only thing still available. Comes in pack only, not sheets. Same speed, 100. Very nice instant film.
I, for one, think it would be helpful Don. I'm not eloquent at all when describing composition, nor one who thinks in eloquent terms about it when I'm doing it. So, I would like to read and learn...
I'll commit to a measly two (but necessary) boxes. Thanks for doing this Steve.
Type 55, Wollensak 135mm.
I could go for Albuquerque/Santa Fe, but not anywhere in California. Too expensive.
I was there and had a good time. Eric, didn't meet you but got to meet Clay, Hugo, and Wayne.
Got excellent tips from Gary Sampson and Jennifer Little during the portfolio reviews. The free film...
Just wondered who will be in Ft. Collins this weekend attending the Foto__ conference? Getting myself ready to go today. See you there.
I started a blog last month: http://alexhawley.wordpress.com/
Recently acquired a couple packages of the fabled Kodak Ektalure. One package is dated 01/87, the other one is 03/80. Any chance the paper will still be alive? Think its been stored at room...
Yes, and that is a good thing because the new Directors all have a passion for film photography.
One can only hope - and wait for the outcome of all this.
I shoot the 8x10 and 7x17 from the bed of my pickup quite frequently, in one of the windiest regions of the USA. No problems with camera shake or stability, even with slow film and exposures, down to...
Thanks Darr. I think this quote from the article pretty much sums it up:
Sheeesh! Check out the price of 8x10 Polaroid at 17th Street Photo. Two weeks ago it was still $224 per box.
I got TMY2 in 4x5 and 120 from B&H. Badger Graphic has the 8x10.
None of which are near the size of the snapshot market which has been taken over by pixel piss.
And Castles is one of the infamous Usual Suspects!
Hi Valerie! Glad to see you here.
Anyone found a supplier with the new TMY in 4x5? I've found the 8x10 and 120 but no 4x5 yet. I would prefer to do my film testing with individual 4x5 sheets but I guess I could do it with 120 in a...
I'm using Type 55 as my primary 4x5 film. For some reason that I can't explain, I've gotten the best results on landscapes with it in my region than any other film I've used. When I enlarge these...
