    Re: Mac Book Calibrating Screen

I've got a Macbook, an iMac (newer 20" model with glossy screen), and a G5 tower with Cinema Displays and think the Cinema Displays are really the only way to go in the Apple lineup. I calibrated the...

    Re: Second Chamonix Shootout

I would be interested, but my Chamonix doesn't arrive until July! :( Unless there could be some sort of magic that can happen Hugo?

Re: For Friends of Ted Harris

So sorry for your loss. Like many here, I did not know Ted personally, but he was easily one of the most helpful people on this, or any other photography group I've participated in.
  4. Re: Geezer Photo Stroller Secrets Revealed...

It says that the weight limit is 100lbs. Do you think the plywood floor you put in increased the amount of weight you could carry or is the frame itself wimpy?
  5. Re: Such thing as field camera with geared movements?

    That's great info, thanks David!
  6. Re: Drum scanning technology: Why so expensive?

Ted, do you notice a difference in color between the scanners you mentioned? Or is that more a function of the software (assuming the same negative is used)?
  7. Re: Drum scanning technology: Why so expensive?

True, I forgot about the Creo used when I was in advertising. I knew a lot of the photographers who shot for us were still using film, I just don't remember taking note of how we got that film...
  8. Re: Such thing as field camera with geared movements?

I'm currently using a non-geared camera and while I can get by, it takes me a bit longer to get where I want to go. I suppose I just prefer the geared movements.
  9. Drum scanning technology: Why so expensive?

To be honest, I don't really understand drum scanning. But I'm curious as to why the technology hasn't come down in price or become the a consumer technology the way flatbeds have. Are the machines...
  10. Such thing as field camera with geared movements?

I'm currently using a Super Graphic and while I generally like it for its portability, I really wish it had geared movements (which I got used to using loaned Cambo and Sinar cameras). Is there such...

    Re: Filthy 545 cleaning tips?

Thanks for posting that, I was able to repair my 545's spring that latches onto the end of the Polaroid pack.

    Re: Sinar F2 metering back...useful?

I was thinking 4x5. The more I think about it, the less inclined I am to go with one. I've done fine up to this point just using a regular flash meter and Polaroids.

    Sinar F2 metering back...useful?

I'm interested in picking up a used Sinar F2. Does the metering back provide readings for studio strobes? Is it a useful accessory in general?
  15. Re: Color negs, scanning, and great new software!

    Archivue,

I've got Monaco EZ Color and it does not function in the same way as inCamera. inCamera is primarily used to profile images based on the GretagMacbeth ColorChecker chart that was...

    Re: Scan quality from Epsons?

Kirk and Jack, thanks for posting those samples!

Jack, in the 100% crop sample, the iron lamp and some of the detailing on the white wall look like they've gone through Photoshop's fresco filter. ...

    Re: Scan quality from Epsons?

I agree with Jack that "great looking" is very subjective, which is why I mentioned varying level of expectations among photographers in the original post. I suppose my only point of comparison for...
  18. Re: How do you know if a Polaroid 545 is worn out?

When I load Type 72 in my 545 back, I've been noticing that whatever is supposed to hold the bottom part of the Polaroid down when exposing the film in camera, isn't holding it down. When I pull up...

    Scan quality from Epsons?

So I've been reading a few threads regarding people's opinions of the various Epson scanners, particularly the 4990 and V700/V750. From what I gather, most consider those scanners to be good enough...
  20. Color negs, scanning, and great new software!

I tend to shoot color negative and scan into my computer to make everything digital. One problem I've always had was in the color correction phase, I could never get things to either pop the way I...

Re: Lens boards for Super Graphics?

Wow, thanks Paul and everyone else, lots of info! The kit I bought came with finders and masks and a bunch of other doodads, including 120 film backs, polaroid, manual, and repair guide. I think I...

Re: Lens boards for Super Graphics?

I may take you up on this offer, but since I'm rather new at this, what does the hole size mean for me in terms of looking for a matching lens? And should I be looking for a cam as well?

Re: Lens boards for Super Graphics?

Thanks Paul. The solenoid isn't critical as I've got a cable release that I'm more used to using. I'll probably go with the Speed Graphic board, thanks!

    Lens boards for Super Graphics?

Being fairly new to the LF world, is it difficult to find lens boards for a Super Graphic camera? How do I go about selecting a lens board, does the opening of the hole need to match a particular...

    Re: Got my 11x14 Yesterday!

Wow, that's a gorgeous camera, congrats. Perhaps instead of the Lowepro bag, you could look into the ThinkTank "Airport Security" bag, which has larger wheels as well as backpack style straps? ...
  26. Re: The perfect item that you bought & you're done searching for another

I recently replaced my Manfrotto 3047 head with the 405 geared head. It was a great value for my money and does exactly what I want it to.

    Hello from Los Angeles

    Hi all,
