Great tonality. I use to love Rodinal. Where do you get it now?
Welcome, I am in Macon. Let me know if I can help.
Reed Bingham State Park. South Georgia
Zone VI 4x5 210mm lens
Even with the split bag bellows on the Zone VI 4x5 I could never get it to move with the 90mm. It seems to be half bag and half bellows. I can't get even the slightest rise out of the 90. I wish I...
E6 in Atlanta still does C41 and E6. Haven't had a lot done but haven't had any problems.
Since the Zone VI want fold up with a lens on or a film holder in, its pretty easy to remember everything. And I keep most eveything in a vest, so nothing on the ground. I do try to remember to put...
I have explored the state parks with 4x5, and as Nathan said, didn't have a lot of luck. You are pretty much restricted to the boardwalks unless you use a boat. I'm also not into the Clyde idea of...
In "Funny Face" I noticed he developed the print, face down, for about 10 seconds, after what seemed like a mighty long exposure. Magic how that works in Hollywood!
For faster turnaround, if you don't mind a little more money, I just had a CLA on one by SK Grimes. Took about a week not counting shipping, and about $100.
I don't think Franks comments were neccesary, but is it possible the electricity where you live is causing problems? White lightnings have been very reliable in my experience, and many others who use...
For B+W Eric Chans profiles for Advanced Black and White mode work well, and are already on his web site for download, for many papers. You might try them. I didn't realize he made custom profiles...
What made that particular print worth that? How big, what kind of print? Was it a one-of and burn the negative?
You can certainly use a dslr to get an idea what the daylight film negative will look like. Just set it to manual white-balance, daylight. You can then experiment with filters, fill flash etc.
Welcome, I'm from Georgia most of the time, but have a second place here in Delavan, WI, where my wife's family is. Hope to get to some Midwest Asylum shoots again when I have time to stay here...
Smithgall Woods State Park, Georgia. Zone VI 4x5 tmax400.

I'm looking at PhotoShelter.com for a web site and sales. A little more expensive but designed specifically for photographers. Haven't dived in yet though.
I'm pretty sure those ASA numbers are with a conversion filter.
Welcome to large format. I am in Macon (center of Georgia) and shoot 4x5. Would love some large format shoots.
Better make sure SMU hasn't gone the route of Stanford. It is virtually illegal to take a photograph on campus. Digital camera around the neck are ok if you are a tourist, but set up a tripod and...
I'm curious what Magnolia Plantations photography policy is, especially large format. Looks like they have a photo contest going now, with special admission for shooting.
Great service. One suggestion if they are looking. Stock 6 ply 20x24, I had to get it locally and it was very espensive.
Not that model. I have an older one, forget the model, that they for some reason quit making. It is big enough for 4x5, has wheels like a carry on bag, and backstraps. I have been quite pleased with...
I have used the BTZS tubes for years. Despite peoples qualms, there is no perceptipal fogging of the negs if you do it in subdued light, and quickly dump the developer and immerse the tube in stop...
I was also thinking "painted light" where the light is moved around the object during a long exposure. Gives a result similar to a soft tent. We learned the technique in Navy photo school, but never...
The way the NPS rules read, you can shoot with LF all day, but you can't shoot video with your smart phone. Is that the intent? Is all video and audio recording prohibited? That would include most...
I currently like Guy Tal
Don't write off the 3880 just because it prints bigger than you need. It will pay for itself in ink savings over a smaller cartridge printer. It prints great B+W and will be there when you decide you...
Finishing up my MFA from Art Academy University in SF. It's an online program. Was it worth it financially? I doubt it, but it has improved my photography. I will have the option of teaching, and...
It sounds like the ruling on groups in national parks was aimed more at protests and free speech activities, rather than photographers or workshops.
I use a 3800 and Eric Chans profiles for ABW. If you print from photoshop you simply download his profiles for popular papers and print from them. I use Ilford Fiber Silk also and get great prints....
If you are just showing them, most galleries now only want a digital disc to look at first. I don't think they would want to handle prints that big, at least not unsolicited.
Howdy Ya'll. Im in Georgia but we have a second home in Delavan, near Janesville, where my wife is from. Only get there about 4 times a year right now, but hope to spend more time in the future. I...
I also didn't like the prints made on most matte papers. I could never get the contrast up enough to match the screen. I settled on Ilford Gold as a good semi-gloss that matches my screen exactly....
I was wondering where a good place would be to see some original Edward Weston, and AA prints. This sounds like a good place.
My wife is from Wisconsin but we live in Gerogia most of the year. We drive there all the time with Georgia plates and I have yet to be pulled over. May be cause we obey the driving laws. Now them...
Great black-and-white Ted! I', working on a series from the Georgia state parks. That's always a good place to start.
I generally stand to the side that the cable release is on, and shade the lens. Not to change the subject, but while recently mounting a copal 3 shutter I got to wondering, do most mount it so that...
I was using 6oz of stock to 6oz of water, 2oz total in each 4x5 btzs tube, one shot. The stock was maybe 2 weeks old, and by then a half full 1 qt brown bottle. I know I should have used air evac...
I know it has been addressed in the past, but I recently tried Xtol developer with TMY film, after using TMax RS. After getting a development time down, I ran two batches in 1:1 dilution in BTZS...
