Re: Crown Graphic 4x5 Flash Question

If your shutter has a bi-post synch connection and it has electronic flash synch capability, then yes you would need only a cord to connect from shutter to the flash. You don't state the flash model,...
  2. Re: Lens Comparison: 135mm 4.7 Xenar and 135mm 4.5 Heliar

The light has moved a bit between the two shots, so that makes the comparison more difficult. The Heliar DOF seems to fall off more quickly.

I've always liked the Xenar, its overall look is very...
  3. Re: Is this Fungus ? I canīt identify, need help

Possibly the beginning of separation, but it looks drippy to me. Could it have been caused by a too wet lens cleaning attempt that caused seepage around the glass? Then it dried and residue remains...
  4. Re: Banding problems with digital copy camera and fluorescent light source

Fluorescent lights are known to often show banding. If I am understanding your issue correctly, I would make sure "silent shutter" is turned off, and then vary your shutter speed in slight increments...

    Re: 5x7 Shen Hao TFC-57-B

Hmm, this looks somewhat similar in design to my Shen 4x5 XPO, non-folding camera. Mine does both vertical and horizontal, and it has been a good solid camera, smooth to operate. My only complaint is...

    Re: 4x5 Portrait lens & Chamonix F2

You might take a look at plain vanilla Schneider Symmar-S lenses in 210mm or 240mm, f5.6. The 210 is relatively light, in Copal 1. These were pro lens back in the 70s and 80s. Still solid performers...

    Re: Strobes and Pops

To keep it simple, double your previous number of pops for each additional stop.

In my experience, reciprocity failure starts to set in after 8 pops or so.
  9. Re: Fellow Speed & Crown Graphic users, what do you carry?

90mm doesn't have much room for movement, is OK, would prefer a 90mm f8 SA.

The 203mm is awesome, virtually identical to the Kodak version with a slightly different coating color, very sharp.
  10. Re: Fellow Speed & Crown Graphic users, what do you carry?

    Crown kit: 90mm Optar, 127 Ysarex, 135 Xenar, 152 Ektar, 203 Optar.

Holders - 6 or 8, meter, orange and green filters, Gitzo, cable release.

Re: In praise of Divided Pyrocat

Tried the divided method for the first time today, experimented with some different 120 roll films to see how they reacted and to make sure the 6-minute times worked for me.

    For small and light and semi-wide on 5x7, I've had good luck with: 120mm Angulon, 135mm WF Ektar, 150mm G-Claron, 150mm Computar/Kowa/Kyvytar, 165mm Angulon, 180mm Fuji-A.

Re: Techniques for HP5+ in HC110?

Time sounds about right, so I'd look at exposure. Try rating film at 200, HC-110 doesn't give full box speed.
Don't forget compensation for bellows extension and long exposures over 1 second.

    Focus help / fresnel installation

Hi, I need a little help.

  37. Re: Kodak Portrait Lens 305mm (12in.) f/4.8, questions

I've used two versions of the lens.

On the later / newer ones, the rear group is in a straight cylinder tube.

On the older ones, a second larger diameter cylinder is at the extreme rear.

    Re: kodak portrait lens 305

    Congo / Yamasaki made 150mm and 210mm soft-focus lenses.
