    Re: Appropriate equipment for LF

I have taken a lot of the advice given to me here. I've done some reading and have found an experienced LF photographer locally who will help, as well as an LF camera club.

In the end I bought a...

    Ed

That's great. Of course! A very useful tweak from within Photoshop. That should help a bit. :)

    Re: Lighting for photographing watercolors

    John,

Thanks a lot for that. You have answered one of my questions in that I see you remove the film and place it safely in a dark box. I'll probably do that too. I live in England (UK) in fact...

    Re: Lighting for photographing watercolors

Thanks to both of you for your really helpful suggestions. I think the differences in your advice give me useful choices. I do get some of my paintings professionally shot for reproduction but I...

    Lighting for photographing watercolors

Having read about LF and bought a Sinar monorail camera with 210mm lens I'm halfway to starting to photograph unglazed watercolour paintings which are non-reflective. I need practical tips as to...

    Tripod adaptors

I've bought a Sinar F2 and the threaded screw hole on its tripod clamp is larger than the standard diameter thread I'm familiar with from 35mm and medium format cameras. My tripod is reasonably...

    Re: Appropriate equipment for LF

    Thanks Niel,

As it happens I had favoured a 150mm taking lens, or 180mm. Why would you recommend Copal 1 shutter? Thanks for offering help with the calculations too.

    Re: Appropriate equipment for LF

That's great Ole. Thanks a lot for your information. Forgive my use of 'archaic' to describe photographic equipment that may well be durable and very fine. It has been hard for me to know what I'm...

    Re: Appropriate equipment for LF

I am quite overwhelmed bythe usefulness of all your responses. Thank you again all, for so many different hints and tips. Fortunately I'm not a complete novice with cameras (I have twelve or so,...

    Re: Appropriate equipment for LF

Thank you all very much. Yes, my question about Dark Slides was a giveaway wasn't it? (been watching too many Star War episodes lately).

I'll try to get the books suggested.
    Thanks again

    Appropriate equipment for LF

I'm about to plunge into 4x5 phtography as cheaply as possible but without compromising the final print. This is driven partly by professional need to be able to take good clear transparencies of...
