Re: Beseler 45mc and VC filters

I have the same filter holder in my 45MCRX. I just cut the 6x6 Ilford filters to fit the rounded part. Most of the light from the condensers is filtered and there is no noticeable effect when...

Re: Grapheic View II Triopd Head

I used a mouse pad cut to fit my tripod head. Contact cemented the fabric side to the metal on the head. The thin (1/8") backing makes a nice non slip surface and is easily replaceable.

    Re: Beseler 45M

I bought an older 45MCRX for $175 several years ago. The selling points were 3 negative carriers, 3 Rodenstock lenses and new bellows. Also included were a full set of Ilford VC filters and 2 boxes...

I use an older Beseler 45MCRX. Reconditioned with new bellows and a good lube job for all the moving parts. Standard condenser light source.

Re: Kodak tray siphon blocked ???

It could be a calcium buildup from using hard water. Soak it in CLR or any calcium removal product for a while then rinse thoroughly. It shouldn't harm the plastic. It's worth a try at least.

Re: Adding View Camera to MF

Whatever type of camera you decide on you will be amazed at the difference between MF & 4x5. It's like the difference between 35mm & MF only on steroids! I kept my 35mm & MF for different shooting...

Re: LED Lights in an Enlarger Head

Heiland in Germany makes a very nice split grade VC head: http://www.heilandelectronic.de/.

It's too bad that that's about as far away from me as you can get in the lower 48 states.
I'm near San Diego. I would love to see Karsh's work in person.

Re: Help Pricing Dagor and Ektar lenses.

You're right about not setting a reserve price. People see "reserve not met" and shy away from bidding. I just started selling a few months ago and don't set a reserve price either.

Re: zone vi junior tripod and majestic head

Re: Really, really old exposed Plus-X..

I agree. Benzotriazole or potassium bromide restrainers may make the developer too weak.

Re: Help Pricing Dagor and Ektar lenses.

Re: oh so new it hurts...help... 10x8 madness

4x5 is much more practical for portraits unless you want to contact print from 8x10. The film selection is better for 4x5. Enlargers are also plentiful for very low prices for 4x5.
  24. Re: needing to make lensboards...for a complete idiot with tools

I made my own lens boards using basswood from the hobby shop. Easy to cut with an exacto knife. Can be glued together for the proper thickness and light baffle.

My old Majestic tripod goes to about 8' so I need a step ladder to work the camera. Very solid even at that extension for a 4x5.
