  1. How to tell if the rear element is wrong?

    Hello everybody!
    Recently I've bought a used Apo-Sironar-S 180/5.6.

Already on the ground glass I see heavy triangle-shaped coma from point light sources (does not matter are they in or out of...

Re: Linhof Kardan Master: TL vs GTL?

    Bob, thanks!
May be it is a question of terminilogy: do I understand correctly that "asymmetrical movements" means that the rotation axis during the tilt/swing stays on the GG plane?

    I believe...

Re: Linhof Kardan Master: TL vs GTL?

optical axis tilts: and does the tilt axis stay in GG plane during tilt?
    If yes, I can
    1) raise the standard (move the axis up at needed point in the scene)
    2) tilt _without destroying_ focus at...

Linhof Kardan Master: TL vs GTL?

    Hello everybody,
could anyone please tell me the difference between TL and GTL models of Kardan Master? I mean the 8x10 model if it matters.

Especially interesting if the TL allows the adjustable...

    Miguel,
I've described my approach of mounting barrel lenses on the "do everything" Copal #3 in this thread:

    Re: "Right" iris position?

Mark, but this is obviously not true for telephoto lenses..
Can you give any references to that theory that states the the rear nodal point is the preferred position?

    Re: Imagon longer than 300mm?

    Oh, how many answers! :)
I've recently discovered that I like the images produced by my Imagon 300mm on 4x5 and want to reproduce the same on larger formats. So 360mm for 5x7 and 420mm for 8x10 seem...

    "Right" iris position?

Are there any rules that govern the iris placement along the lens axis?

If the iris is placed too far, it acts rather as a vignetter rather than as an aperture. On the other side, telephoto lenses...

    Re: Linhof Serial Numbers

So far I had a chance to get the 1st edition.
It is nowhere close in details as "Hasselblad compedium" by R.Nordin or "Rollei Report" by C.Prochnov but it is useful. I would recommend it to anyone...

    Storing MT without cam

    Dear all,
I've recently read the Linhof brochure (1964) about Super Technika 5x7 and found an alarming sentence: "Do not close the camera without inserted coupling cam, as this might cause damage to...

  19. Re: How to get a pictorial look for a brief assignment from modern lenses?

John, if your 300mm Symmar is "Symmar-S" you can try to use rear element only.
Schneider says that the newer Symmar _S_ (unlike older Symmars without "S") are NOT intended to be used without front...
  20. Re: Rodenstock Imagon needs an f stop scale

  23. Sinar to Linhof _13x18_ lens boad adapter?

Sinar and Linhof 13x18 lensboards are quite close in dimensions (ca 10mm difference) so there is no room for the usual lock.
I wonder has anyone ever made such adapter?

    Thanks

  24. Re: Linhof TK 45: rear tilt axis position?

    You're probably right, Jim.
As for me I'd gladly sell some compactness for the 2 points focusing ability :)
  25. Re: Linhof TK 45: rear tilt axis position?

    A pity!
May be I don't realize some design restrictions but I think Linhof should have kept the axes on GG plane. In this case we had a lightweight and compact AMS featured monorail!

    But thanks...
  26. Re: Linhof TK 45: rear tilt axis position?

Thanks for the quick reply, Bob.
Does the later model of TK ("S") has the tilt/swing axes also out of GG plane or there were changes in this respect?
  27. Linhof TK 45: rear tilt axis position?
